The 1st day of camp was a complete success. All the girls were excited to meet new people and ready to get the camp started. Today we focused on the issues of Self-Esteem. Through the day the girls participated in workshops, journal writing, sharing, arts, and of course FUN! The journal topic for today was “Share Your Story”, everyone was asked to write about their childhood (the good, the bad, the ugly) and reflect and describe how they have changed over the years and where they hope to go in the years to come. After everyone found their story, we gave our stories voices. All the girls were able to share their stories with one another and gain a sense of compassion and empathy for each other. The day ended with a CRAZY art project. All the girls were excited and worked diligently to create their journals and camp bags. It is incredible the creative nature these girls have. I had so much fun and cannot wait for tomorrow.  “Defy Conformity and Embrace Originality” Lady Gaga
